SPTN technical architecture

SPTN system architecture consists of the forwarding plane, the control plane, management plane and application plane composition, shown in Figure 1.

SPTN technical architecture

When the number of network elements of a network control capability is greater than the controller needs to perform NE-level multiple controllers to control. In order to meet the networking needs of large carrier-class network control plane using hierarchical control architecture into the domain controller (D-Controller) and Inter-Domain Controller (S-Controller), in which the D-Controller is responsible for control within the business, and forwarded to the interface control surface equipment through the South. S-Controller is responsible for inter-domain control of the business by calling the North D-Controller provided to interface to complete the resource coordination and operational scheduling of the entire network, cross-domain cooperative control of network resources.

In SPTN system architecture, management plane still persist, management will continue to be responsible for forwarding plane resources and version management, alarm and performance monitoring surface and controllers to meet the needs of network operation and maintenance.
